About Me

My Photo
I am a youth services librarian, which means I work with ages birth-18. I love being asked about great books to read! When I'm not found with a book in my hands I'm most likely playing board games. The opinions and content of this blog are my own and are not that of my library system. My blog content is my own and not that of any committee or organization I'm involved in. A Note to Authors/Publishers: I am not currently accepting new titles to review at this time. I would be happy to read and review your book. If I you have a book that you would like to share with me, please contact me at greenbeanteenqueen (at) gmail (dot) com.

In My Mailbox

Since I was busy last week, you know getting married and all, this is a combo post for the last two weeks. Thanks to The Story Siren for the idea!

In the Mail:

Erec Rex: The Dragon's Eye by Kaza Kingsley-signed, won from Free Book Friday

Leftovers by Heather Waldorf-won from Library Thing Early Reviewers program

From the library book sale: (yep, I was getting married on Saturday and there were wedding things to be done, but Thursday when my family came into town what did we do? Go to the library book sale!)

Bewitching Season by Marissa Doyle

Son of the Mob by Gordon Korman

Shug by Jenny Han

A Brief Chapter in my Impossible Life by Dana Reinhardt

Once Upon a Marigold by Jean Ferris

The Penderwicks on Gardam Street by Jeanne Birdsall

Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi-need to read this one for this summer's graphic novel class

My Ballet Class by Rachel Isadora-I used to check this one out from the library all the time when I was about 5 or 6 so of course I had to get it. My mom saw it and I said "remember this?" and she said "of course I do, you always had it!" and sort of rolled her eyes (probably from too many read alouds!)

From the Bookstore: (purchased mostly in part with my favorite wedding gift, a Borders gift card!)

Lament by Maggie Stiefvater-she's going to be at ALA, so I needed to get a copy that will hopefully get signed

Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder-heard so many good things about this one, I have to read it. Plus, the YA marketed cover was $4 cheaper than the adult marketed paperback-weird!

Academy 7 by Anne Osterlund

Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris-another author that will be at ALA-yay!

A Passion Most Pure by Julie Lessman-I'm pretty picky on my christian fiction, but after reading Melissa's review, I had to get my hands on a copy-plus the author will be doing a tour stop locally over the summer

The Last Olympian by Rick Riordan-I still haven't read book four but the husband finished this one tonight and really enjoyed it. Man, there are days I envy his speed reading skills!

Now that I'm done with wedding planning and my first semester of grad school, I actually have time to get back to that review pile that has been looking at me longingly. So expect lots of reviews to come soon!

I love the Percy Jackson series!!! I've only read the first two, but I do have the third one (all I have to do now is get around to reading it). :)
So far I've managed to keep myself from reading what the other books in the series are about until right before I read them, which makes the series better since nothing's been spoiled.

Ohhh I loved Lament. It was a great book. Poison Study is also a great start to a good series.
