YA Movie News

Here's what I've read about this week:

A new Anne Frank movie is in the works to be written by playwrite David Mamet. This one will be more true to the original diary and the play.

Scholastic Media is pitching an idea for a TV series based on The Wedding Planner's Daughter series by Colleen Murtagh Paratore. I'm really hoping this works out as I'm a huge fan of the books. Thanks to Fuse #8 for the link.

Eclipse got a lot of new actors added to the cast. You can see the updated list on IMDB. There's also a new New Moon trailer out this week-it got leaked online, but it'll also be in theaters with Bandslam. I'm just excited Jacob loses his ugly long hair in this one.

Ned Vizzini's novel It's Kind of a Funny Story is in development. The story is about a teen who is battling depression and checks himself into a psychiatric hospital, only to end up in the adult ward.

Extended editions of the Harry Potter movies are going to be released, but there's no word on what exactly the extended editions will have. I've been saying we need extended editions for fans forever, I just wish they'd have all those scenes they cut out!

Have you seen new trailer for Where The Wild Things Are? I'm getting reall excited about this movie and think it could be a rare picture book to movie gem.

Check out the trailer for Dorian Gray. Anyone else share in my Colin Firth love??

And last, I didn't know Me and Orson Welles was based on a novel, but I'm going to try and check out the book before the movie.

And this one, just because it looks good:

  3. OMG a Wedding Planner's Daughter TV show? That would be awesome. I love that idea. The books are so cute and fun! And who could resist more Harry Potter?

PS. Me & Orson Welles looks fab--a big step up for Zac Efron, no? He's not a bad actor at all...

  6. Whenever I think of Colin Firth I immediately think of Pride and Prejudice. Dorian Gray sounds really good! It's Kind of a Funny Story sounds cool too.

  8. I saw the DG trailer yesterday before watching 'The Proposal' and it looks very cool, but Dorian's sexual escapades look to be almost entirely heterosexual (yes there's a lot of that in the book but come on, this is the book that led to Oscar Wilde's imprisonment). I hope if this is the case there will be tons and tons of innuendo and suggestiveness between Firth and Barnes, as there is between the two characters in the book. Also 'old' Firth later in the trailer makes me very sad :(

  9. Totally agree with you on the Jacob thing. Long hair=yuck. Except for Orlando Bloom in the pirates movies. That's my one exception. ;)
