YA Movie News

-The biggest news this week was that movie rights to Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl were sold. I'm really looking forward to this one!

-Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is released on DVD on Tuesday 12/8 and you know I'll be first in line to buy my copy. I plan on rushing home and watching the special features, which includes a teaser trailer for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part One. Even though I felt let down in movie six, I have high hopes for seven, since they'll have two movies.

-So it looks as though Summit will be splitting Breaking Dawn. Can I just say I think this is a terrible idea? That book does not need to be split. The plot is not complicated, and we really don't need to spend an hour watching multiple vampire families arrive to the Cullen estate. There's not even the big fight that we're supposed to get in the end. I just don't see why (other than Summit wants to cash in and make money) there needs to be two movies. What does everyone else think about the Breaking Dawn split?

  1. I think Summit is splitting Breaking Dawn because Deathly Hallows is being split. Honestly.

  2. Yes, that's what I think too (about splitting BD because of DH), though there's no need to split it anyway because not a lot happens. We'll see how it goes...

But I'm so excited for the Deathly Hallows preview in the dvd! :-D Can't wait to get it!!

  3. Splitting Breaking Dawn seems like a really stupid idea. I was bored reading it I can't imagine sitting through two movies of it. I am annoyed that they split Deathly Hallows but at least there I can understand it. Not that I am a big fan of the HP movies despite loving the books.

  4. Ohh, DEFINITELY looking forward to Beautiful Creatures. Crossing my fingers that they'll do it justice.
As for Breaking Dawn, uhh... WELL. Maybe we can watch Edward and BElla have sex twenty times or something. But I'm not sure how that's going to work.
    Thanks for the heads up!

  5. Jess-That's what I think too!

Nonie-I can't wait to see the Deathy Hallows preview-I'm sure I'll watch it over and over!:)

Zee-I've liked the HP movies, but they leave so much out, and I was really let down by six (the movie, loved the book!)

Jenn-LOL! So true! That's all that happens in the first half!

  6. I agree completely. Splitting Breaking Dawn is just silly and greedy.

  7. Yikes! I had heard about Breaking Dawn but was hoping it was just a rumor. I think its a BAD idea. Like you said, there just isnt enough in that book to constitute making two movies. I'm having a hard time how they would make it one movie. I think they just want money, so sad.

  8. That is just absolutely ridiculous. There's not enough stuff to split into two decent-length films.

And really (adopts Chandler Bing's mannerisms here), could they be any more obvious about how they want to be Harry Potter?

  9. I am really interested in the Beautiful Creatures movie! Especially since the book just came out, wow!! I also heard Wings is supposed to become a movie.

Not surprised to see Breaking Dawn broke into two movies.

  10. Just like Zee I was bored when reading Breaking Dawn and I don't think there's enough going on in the book to make two movies out of it. Sounds like they're getting a bit too greedy!
