About Me

My Photo
I am a tween and teen librarian and I love being asked about great books to read! I also review books for TeensReadToo.com When I'm not found with a book in my hands I'm most likely reading blogs-I'm addicted. The opinions and content of this blog are my own and are not that of my library system. My blog content is my own and not that of any committee or organization I'm involved in. A Note to Authors/Publishers: I would be happy to read and review your book. If I you have a book that you would like to share with me, please contact me at greenbeanteenqueen (at) gmail (dot) com.

YA Movie News

-Last week I mentioned there was a new movie adaptation of A Wrinkle in Time in the works. The film has picked Jeff Stockwell as the screenwriter. Stockwell also adapted Bridge to Terabithia (which I still haven't seen, so you'll have to let me know how close it was to the book). Stockwell also has adaptations of The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane and Kiki's Delivery Service lined up as well. Thanks to Cynopsis for the news.

-LaVar Burton tweeted last week about a possible return of Reading Rainbow
"You heard it here first... Reading Rainbow 2.0 is in th works! Stay tuned for more info. But, you don't have to..." It really makes me sad that my teens have no idea what Reading Rainbow is, so I'd love to see the show return. Last year Mr. Burton tweeted about a Reading Rainbow for adults idea and I really hope he's still heading in that direction. (Did anyone else practice booktalks for that show like I did?) Thanks to
Cynopsis for news.

-Cory Doctorow's novel Little Brother has been optioned by Angryfilms. I have read great reviews about this book and with the rise of dystopian and science fiction, I think a movie will do really well. Thanks to
Shelf Awareness for the news.

-The official opening date for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter will be June 18th. I wish I could go opening weekend! Anyone planning on going? Do you think it will be great or not worth it?

-How to Train Your Dragon opens this weekend and so far the reviews have been very positive. Amazingly, the book's hold list at my library is still pretty small, so maybe I'll get a chance to read the book before I see the movie!

-The trailer for Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World is out-I'm not sure what I think about it, but I'm still really excited. I hope the movie gets the comics noticed more, because they really are great reads!

-Here's the first look at Pretty Little Liars the TV show, which will premire this summer on ABC Family. I just got the first book in at the library, so I'm hoping to catch up. Thanks to
Khy at Frenetic Reader at for sharing this!

Wonderful to hear that there is an adaptation of A Wrinkle in Time on the way. That is definitely one of my favourites from childhood. I may even be able to convince my 12 year old niece to finally finish it if there is a movie to watch after, since she couldn't make it through it the first time.

Thanks for the info!

OK, no, there is no need to do a Kiki's Delivery Service since Miyazaki already did a great movie. Ugh.

Excited about a better A Wrinkle in Time, and I want to go see How to Train Your Dragon this weekend, maybe.

I really need to get reading the Pretty Little Liars series.

I'm heading to Universal, but I'm going to miss HP. Too early. *sobs* Even though it won't be open, I'm hoping to snap some pics from a distance, though.

I'm not so sure I'd be looking to LeVar for news on Reading Rainbow. Long before the show was officially cancelled, he was let go as the host.

I saw How to Train Your Dragon today, and it was hilarious! I haven't read the book before/yet, but the movie was very fun. I'd suggest it either way. :)

It might be a good idea to watch "How to Train a Dragon" before you read it, actually - I loooooooove the book (and the whole series), which meant I HATED the preview for the movie because they'd changed the story, setup, and characters so much.

Everyone I know who's seen the movie loved it, though, so I think it probably is a very good film - just not faithful to the original book.

On the other hand, I loved the film of "Bridge to Terabithia", which was very faithful to the original book, so I'm excited that the same guy is doing A Wrinkle in Time!
