YA Movie News

-ABC Family has two books to TV shows this summer, one of which is Huge based on the book by Sasha Paley. Check out the Huge website. Huge premieres June 28th and has some great producers attached: Winnie Holzman (My So Called Life) and her daughter Savannah Dooley will produce as well Bob Levy and Leslie Morgenstein from Alloy Entertainment, Gossip Girl and Vampire Diaries. I have high hopes for this show!

-Chris Columbus' 1942 Pictures has two books to movies in the works: The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman and Killer Pizza by Greg Taylor. While I didn't love Columbus' Percy Jackson movie, I still think he does a decent job with books to movies (he did direct the first two Harry Potter films) so I have hopes that The Graveyard Book is in good hands. Thanks to Cynopsis for the news!

-McG has acquired the rights to tenner novel The Duff by Kody Keplinger. Congrats Kody on the movie deal! The Duff will be released in September. Looking at McG's IMDB page, he also has a movie version of I Am A Genius of Unspeakable Evil and I Want to be Your Class President in the works, which is also a book to movie. Thanks to Cynopsis for the news!

-According to author Wendy Mass' e-mail newsletter, her novel Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life is in the early stages of becoming a movie. I'll let you know more details when I find them out!

-ABC Family's Pretty Little Liars premieres Tuesday June 8th-and I hope you're watching! I think this show will be my summer guilty pleasure!

-Here's the trailer for Flipped, based on the novel by Wendelin Van Draanen. What do you think?

  1. I can't wait to see Pretty Little Liars and Huge looks good too!

  2. Flipped was the cutest book! The movie looks really good, too :)

  3. Flipped looks so cute and I really hope Pretty Little Liars makes it over to the UK. All the buzz about it is making me so jealous!
