YA Movie News

-USA Today is speculating on who will play Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games movie. They're picking Chloe Moretz and also saying they think Kristen Stewart is on the shortlist. Don't put too much stock in this article though, it's all speculation. There's no director lined up and we're not even sure the movie will even get made (although there's a good chance of that). No casting is happening and everything is all fans ideas. Plus, Kristen Stewart is too old to be Katniss. Anyone else get annoyed how every casting choice is either from Harry Potter, Twilight or Percy Jackson? There are other actors!!

-Congrats to the wonderful Kiersten White who sold the film rights for her novel Paranormalcy (out now!) I love how producers are taking note of YA books right now!:)

-Have you seen the amazing photos that are coming out from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows?? JYSK has them all in a handy gallery and they're amazing! I really can't wait for this movie!

  1. I'm dying to see Harry Potter! Eep :)

Oh, and if what's her butt stewart gets the role of Katniss, Hollywood has seriously gone downhill.

  2. I am not a fan of the idea of Chloe Moretz because she is too young. I would lilke to see an "older" teen (18/19) because Katniss has never had an easy life, she wouldn't look young for her age!

Check out the Hunger Games casting poll Entertainment Weekly ran.

  3. I am also DYING to see HP!

I am not a fan of either of those girls for Katniss. Honestly I don't think Kristin Stewart can act.

  4. So far I'm the only person that I've seen make this recommendation for Katniss, but I think Victoria Justice could pull it off. She's half Latina so she's got the look, she can sing, and she's physically capable to handle fight scenes. She's slender but athletic.

Look at the picture here. Aside from the brown eyes, she's pretty close. And contacts can fix eye color.

  5. I'm not sure where I heard it suggested (maybe here?!) but I can totally see Ellen Page as Katniss. She's a little old, but I think she can look young enough for the part. She also has that attitude that I've always pictured Katniss having. Plus, she's short!

  6. I'm not liking the idea of Chloe Mortez as Katniss. She's way to young, and just doesn't look anything like I picture Katniss. As far as Kristin Stewart, I don't really care if she's in it or not. If she's in it, I think she'd do a good job.

This is gonna be an awesome movie!

  7. The thought of Kristing Stewart as Katniss makes me want to gag. For serious. But, like you said she's too old and there isn't a director attached. They aren't going to cast anyone until they have the director on board.

I've got to read Paranormalcy, I'm seeing it all over the place and it looks like everyone so far is loving it.

  9. Oh, I would go on a rampage if kristen was katniss. She already destroyed twilight, she cannot touch the hunger games (which is wayy better, and she's completely unworthy)!
Anyway...I am DYING to see hp. Thanks for the photos! It abates my hunger a bit. ;)
