YA Movie News

-The biggest news this week is that director Gary Ross is in talks to direct The Hunger Games movie. Mr. Ross directed Seabiscuit and Pleasantville, and wrote one of my favorite movies, Dave. I think he's a good director choice and I'm . Now we just need to get the cast!! Thanks to Cynopsis Kids and MTV News.
-Disney and Offspring Entertainmnet picked up the rights to Matched by Ally Condie. I'm really hoping that all these YA novel movie options happen-I love seeing YA on the big screen!! Thanks to Cynopsis Kids for the news.
-The Eclipse DVD will be released December 4 (just in time for the holiday season!) Lots of special features will be included and I know the hold list at the library will be long like always!
-Every Fall I make a list of all the shows I want to watch and hope will be the next big TV show I love. YPulse has a handy list of Fall Teen TV Shows-Part One and Part Two. Any shows you're excited about?
-OK, let me admit to you that I tried to read The Scarlet Letter in high school and HATED it. But I'm loving the trailers for Easy A, which is a modern reinterpretation of the classic novel.

  1. I didn't realize Easy A was a take from the Scarlett Letter. I hated that book too, but the movie looks cute.

  2. Ooh, how exciting about the Hunger Games director- I love those movies! (I wonder if he'll cast Toby Maguire in it ;p)

I read The Scarlet Letter a long time ago...the only thing I remember feeling afterward was that it was one of those classics we HAD to read...I like historical novels though, but it most likely was too depressing for me. I've never liked depresseing novels.

    Thanks for the info Sarah!

  3. OMG!! Easy A looks great! Thanks for sharing.

  4. I never read the Scarlet letter, but was always turned off of it by the fact that it seems to crop up a huge percentage of contemporary YA novels. Easy A, however, looks absolutely hilarious and I can't count how many times I've showed it to people over the last few days.

  5. I'm excited about Running Wilde because I love both Will Arnett and Kerri Russell!

  6. I loved Seabiscuit and Dave. I now have high hopes for Hunger Games! I agree, Easy A looks cute!

  7. So Excited for the Hunger Games!! I really really hope they do a great job with that cast. Entertainment Weekly had some favorites... they were ok.

I didn't know that about the Scarlett Letter either! I don't know about that movie.. not my thing personally.

I agree with Running Wilde! I have a soft spot for Keri Russell so I will be tuning in for that!!

I love hearing from other readers! Share your thoughts and chime in!
