YA Movie News

-Author Neil Gaiman is getting animated! He's going to appear in a special Halloween episode of Arthur (which is based on the children's book series by Marc Brown). The Neil Gaiman episode airs October 25.

-I love this post in Entertainment Weekly about celebrities tweeting about The Hunger Games. Also, be sure to check out for great videos featuring Abigail Breslin and Kristin Chenowith and their thoughts on being in the movie. And in more Hunger Games movie news, Lionsgate has an official Hunger Games movie Facebook page.

-There's a live action Goosebumps movie in the works. Carl Ellsworth is writing the screenplay. The books and DVDs are so hugely popular at my library with the tween crowd, I know they'll be thrilled with this news. OK, can I admit that even though I'm an adult that series still manages to freak me out??? Thanks to Cynopsis Kids for the news.

-Sophie Jordan's Firelight has been picked up by Mandalay Pictures. While I didn't love the book, I think a movie version would be really cool-I'd love to see Jacinda and her draci-self on the big screen! We need more movies with dragons! Thanks to Shelf Awareness for the news.
-Youth Services Corner has a great roundup of books to movies. Only a few YA titles on there, but a great list!

  1. Cool! And Bree Despain just announced on her blog that The Dark Divine was picked up too!!

  2. I can't imagine what it would be like to be an actor reading a book and hoping to get to be your favorite character. That must be trippy.

I love hearing from other readers! Share your thoughts and chime in!
