YA Movie News

This weeks YA movie news is full of awesomeness!!

-Set your DVR's! J.K. Rowling is appearing on Oprah today (Friday October 1).

-R.L. Stine's Goosebumps is taking off again. Recenty, I told you how there's a Goosebumps movie in the works, now there are two live action TV movies in the works. Toonz Group is working on two new specials, Have you met my Ghoulfriend and One Night in the Doom House. There's also a TV show in the works which is set to start in 2011 (not sure what channel-I'll keep you posted!) Thanks to
Cynopsis Kids for the news.

Kimberly Peirce will direct the Wicked Lovely movie. A script is being written, and now with a director attached, we can hope this movie will get made! Thanks to Shelf Awareness for the news!

Chloe Moretz will star as Emily the Strange in the upcoming movie. Chloe's being rumored to be the frontrunner for the role of Katniss, so I'm wondering if this casting will change that. Thanks to Cynopsis Kids for the news.

-Breaking Dawn has some new casting additions.
Maggie Grace will play Irina. The Deadline article stated that Irina "a member of the Denali coven, considered cousins to the Cullen clan as the only other 'vegetarian' vampire group. When Irina blames the Cullens for the death of her lover, her actions set in motion a terrifying chain of events." I don't really remember much about Irina, but can someone help me figure out what terrifying chain of events they're referring to?? Thanks to Shelf Awareness for the news.

-For the full Denali Clan casting, check out
Entertainment Weekly's list!

-Also in Breaking Dawn news, rumors are circulating that
9-year-old Mackenzie Foy is close to signing on as Reneseme. Interestingly, the EW article states that Reneseme ages to 17 by the end of the story, so maybe they're making her grow faster and older to hook up with Jacob at the end? Thanks to Entertainment Weekly for the news.

-Alloy has a new web series up based on Zoey Dean's novel, Hollywood is Like High School With Money. The series is produced by the people who brought us Gossip Girl, Pretty Little Liars and Vampire Diaries. The first three episodes are up online and new episodes will be posted every Tuesday and Thursday through October 14. Be sure to check it out!

-ABC Family has more original TV shows in the works, one is called Nine Lives which is based on the YA series The Nine Lives of Chloe King by Celia Thomson. I have these books in my library and I've been interested in them, now is my chance to catch up! I think ABC Family is becoming my favorite channel for all their YA book to TV shows they've been doing-keep it up ABC Family!!! Thanks to
Cynopsis for the news.

The Dark Divine has been optioned for a movie. Bree Despain announced the news on her blog last week and I'm really hoping a movie happens-I'd love to see Daniel on the big screen!

-There's a new balloon at this year's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade-the Wimpy Kid! The Wimpy Kid is one of two new balloons this year and
Abrams is celebrating by giving away a trip to the parade to see the Wimpy Kid balloon live!

-Check out this new teaser trailer for I Am Number Four! What do you think?

  1. I actually just withdrew the Nine Lives of Chloe King books I had in the collection because they never circulated. I'll be interested to see what happens with the show. I know the Pretty Little Liars show really made the books fly off the shelves, and I really enjoyed the episodes of the show that I saw.

  2. LOVED the I Am Number Four trailer. I finished the book last weekend and loved it, can't wait for the movie. Chloe is too young to play Katniss. Not that she isn't a great actress, but come on. I hope someone comes to their senses about this, have her be Prim or Rue, not Katniss!
