YA Movie News

Get ready for a big YA Movie News post! This is two weeks worth of news and there’s a lot of exciting things happening.

-Anyone else loving these new Harry Potter posters?? They are just so cool! You can see all four at MTV's Movie Blog. I like them all but I think this one is my favorite. (I would like the Ron/Hermione one better if Emma Watson didn't have an odd look on her face!)

-We knew that there was a possible City of Bones movie in the works thanks to Screen Gems. But according to Variety (via Shelf Awareness) the company is developing the movies to be a “film franchise” which means there’s a possibility of seeing all the books hit the big screen!

-Congrats to Jen Nadol who's debut book The Mark just got a TV deal! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for The Mark TV series Jen!

-Sad news from ABC Family-they’ve decided to cancel Huge. The show’s ratings dropped off throughout the series, so the network pulled the plug. The show didn’t even get a real finale! Thanks to Huffington Post for the news.

-There two new superhero movies in the works. First up is Spider-Man, which will star Andrew Garfield at Peter Parker, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy and Rhys Ifans as the villain. There’s also a new Superman in the works which is set to be directed by Zach Stone. Do Superman and Spider-Man still check out at your library? My teens seem more interested in Iron Man and X-Men when it comes to superhero comics. Plus, I hate that movie companies feel the need to re-launch everything! Oh well, I'm sure I'll end up seeing them! Thanks to
Cynopsis Kids for the news.

-A sequel to How To Train Your Dragon is in the works and set to be released in 2013. The sequel will feature the same voice cast and will be based on the books by Cressida Cowell. In addition to another movie, Cartoon Network has a deal with Dreamworks for a How To Train Your Dragon series and a brand new How To Train Your Dragon short. The series will appear in 2012. The DVD of How To Train Your Dragon is out today! Thanks to
Cynopsis Kids for the news.

-Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part One will not be shown in 3D. The studio felt they didn’t have enough time to convert the film into 3D before the November release. So it looks like only part two will be converted to 3D. I don’t care how it’s shown, I can’t wait to see it!:) And if you really need your Harry Potter movies in 3D, the movies are being converted to 3D on Blu-Ray. Thanks to
Shelf-Awareness and MTV for the news.

-Sara Shepard’s Pretty Little Liars book series turned TV series has worked well for ABC Family and they’re putting their hopes in Sara’s books again. A pilot has been approved for The Lying Game based on the upcoming novel of the same name. We’ll see if ABC Family and Sara Shepard can strike gold twice! Thanks to
Cynopsis for the news.

-Pretty Little Liars will be back on ABC Family on January 3-can't wait!!

-We’ve finally got an air date for Avalon High on the Disney Channel! Set your DVRs for Friday November 12 for the movie premier. Thanks to
Cynopsis Kids for the news.

-Breaking Dawn has added a ton of new faces to portray the various vampires that come to support the Cullens and Renesme in Breaking Dawn. Pushing Daisies star Lee Pace is among them and you can find the whole list on
E! News.

And last-there’s a new I Am Number Four feature out. I have to admit I’m getting pretty excited about this movie!

  5. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the HP posters, even though I agree about the weird look on her face the ron/hermione one rocks. But the harry/hermione does too. I know it makes sense but it's still hard to see "trust no one" as a caption for those three close friends. I wasn't upset about the whole 3D thing. I actually perfer 2D (call me oldfashioned:)
I'm excited about Avalon High only I wish it wasn't DCOM, I think it'd be better with more money behind it.
