Hello to ALA Friends & A Few Notes

Welcome and hello to those of you who have found my blog after meeting me at ALA Midwinter this past weekend! Take a look around, leave a comment and let me know what you think.

I'm still unpacking (you should have seen my office at work today-it looked like a tornado came through!) and am back to a long to-do list (both at home and work) so I'll start up with reviews again bright and early Monday morning.

As I mentioned earlier, I'm taking an Adult Lit class this semester so I'll be reading more adult fiction this year than I have in year's past. I'm thinking of making a weekly (or bi-weekly) feature to review these titles. I'm trying to read off the Alex Awards list so I can read adult titles with teen appeal. Should I post reviews or not? I want to know what you think!

  1. Yes! Please post reviews of the adult books you read too.

  2. I'd love to see your adult reviews, I'm always looking for things to read if I take a break from YA.

  3. Yes, post them please! There are many on the Alex list I really want to read so it will be nice to have someone help me weed them out!

  4. Yes, please post reviews! I'm trying to read more Alex Awards this year too. I'm currently reading The Radleys and am very happy with my choice. I can see definite teen appeal!

  5. I struggle with that too! I am a teen librarian, but do a lot of adult reference and readers advisory so I have to read adult and teen books. In the past I have not posted adult reviews on my teen blog, but maybe I should reconsider that. I would definitely appreciate review of the Alex winners.

  8. I would love to see the reviews! Have you decided which ones you are going to read yet?

  9. Please post your reviews. I have a couple of kids at my library that think reading YA is beneath them (I really don't get it since I'm an adult and I read YA.) So I always try to have a good array of adult books that I know I can reccommend.

13 District Mockingjay Tour: District 4

Hello and welcome to District Four. I'm sorry that Finnick isn't here to be your host. I know as a member of District Four I should be cheering for my own tribute, but after watching the last two Hunger Games play out I have fallen in love with Peeta Mellark! Why do I love Peeta? He's smart, he's funny, and he's charming. He stands up for what he believes, he's loyal and he's not afraid to do what's right. He's sensitive and caring but can also be strong and kick butt. He fights for Katniss and with Katniss. Peeta is a great diplomat and he knows how to bring people together. He can also be sneaky to get what he wants. Plus, did I mention he can bake? And he's hot!! But it's not just me! We have an underground club of sorts here in District Four-Seafaring Librarians for Peeta! Here's what some of our members had to say about their love for Peeta: - Team Peeta!! I love their relationship because they balance each other perfectly. Where ...
