YA Movie News

So I haven't posted a YA Movie News post in awhile so this is a catch up post. Some of the news you might already know, but it's worth sharing again!:)

-Lionsgate has set a release date for The Hunger Games movie. The movie will hit theaters March 23, 2012. Now we just have to wait for news on the cast! Thanks to
Entertainment Weekly for the news.

-Emma Watson and Logan Lerman are in talks to star in the movie adaptation of The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. The author wrote the script and will also direct.

-Nickelodeon has pilot in the works based on the upcoming Alloy series (Sept 2011) How to Rock Braces and Glasses. The series is about a popular girl who gets braces and glasses and her popularity status is in trouble, but she finds happiness with music. The pilot is starring Cymphonique, Master P's daughter.

-ABC Family's Pretty Little Liars has been renewed for a second season, which will air this summer.

-Disney Channel has a new original movie called Lemonade Mouth that will premire April 15. The movie is based on the book of the same name by Mark Peter Huges and is about five teens who form a band.

-It's not YA, but older YA readers might be watching HBO's new series Game of Thrones, based on the George R.R. Martin series. The series will debut April 17.

-There's also a new Camelot series on Starz out in April as well. And Merlin is doing well on SyFy (my teens were telling me how much they loved that show). I'm hoping this means a rise of epic fantasy TV shows??

-I've got some I Am Number Four photos to share! My teens are so excited for this movie!

  1. I am so excited for I AM Number Four also!!!

  2. Can I also say how much I love Merlin? SO MUCH.

  3. I'm interested to see how they do the Hunger Games as a movie. It seems like the violence will be almost be to much to see. It's so different reading something than watching it.

  4. I love Merlin. I was so sorry when The Seeker wasn't renewed. Hope some of the other new shows will be good.

  5. Howdy People

i want to rent out a film but its a blu-ray 1....i don't have a blu ray player though....will it still do the job??

    Thanks a lot !

  6. Gday Guys

    Are there any Blu-Ray/dvd

    combo players?
I understand you can get dvd/vcr players. Are there any players that will play each dvd and blu-rays that I can obtain instead of acquiring 2 individual players?

    Regards !

  7. Can't wait for The Hunger Games movie!

  8. Now that a release date is out there for The Hunger Games I hope they get about announcing the cast. It's taking too long! LOL

  9. I am fascinated to determine that they perform the actual Food cravings Video games like a film. It appears as though the actual physical violence is going to be nearly end up being in order to a lot to determine. It is therefore various reading through some thing compared to viewing this.

Dear Books: Please Update Your Libraries

There is nothing worse than coming across a book you are really enjoying only to be pulled out of it because of some outdated and incorrect library reference. I know that authors and illustrators will not always get everything 100% accurate, but I when I read books that show a very dated stereotype, or something that is just so incorrect, I always wonder why. I feel like authors and illustrators should know better! And it's not just older books-it happens in new books too! I recently read A Big Surprise for Little Card by Charise Mericle Harper and illustrated by Anna Raff.  I absolutely loved this book! It's a creative look at libraries through the eyes of a library card. It's perfect for my outreach visits and storytimes about the library and promoting what value there is in a library card. Anna Raff gets major points for illustrating a very cool and hip librarian as well! But the librarian tells card to shush and is a bit annoyed when he shows up. And then l
