YA Movie News

-We might not have any official casting decisions yet for The Hunger Games movie but we can still listen to the rumors! Rumors are that Jennifer Lawrence (Winter's Bone) is in the lead for the role with Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit) and Abigail Breslin (Little Miss Sunshine) also in the running. has some great videos from Jennifer (check out the stink eye she gives her mom when she mentions The Hunger Games!) and Hailee discussing the movie-I don't know, maybe this could mean we're close to a Katniss!

-Congrats to author and illustrator Shaun Tan for winning an Oscar for best animated short for The Lost Thing, which is based on his short story. Shaun Tan and Andrew Ruhemann co-directed the film. The Lost Thing is part of the new Shaun Tan three story collection out this year called Lost & Found.

-Kenneth Oppel's novel Half Brother has been optioned for a film.

-Julie Halpern reported this week that it doesn't look like an Into the Wild Nerd Yonder TV series will be happening since the production company has stopped shopping it around. Sad because I think this would make a hilarious TV show! Maybe we should start a campaign to ABC Family??

Trailer time!! I knew about Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules, but anyone else feel like that movie came really fast?

  1. Um...three very white chicks, one BLONDE for crying out loud...I say a big no, if anybody in Hollywood cares!

  2. I agree with the above comment. Acting wise, I think Jennifer or Halee would be good choices, but they casting people need to CAREFULLY consider the physical descriptions of the characters. We don't need another The Last Airbender disappointment.
