YA Movie News

Lots of movie news this week!

-The True Meaning of Smekday by Adam Rex is heading to the big screen. The movie version has a new name, Happy Smekday! and will be released by DreamWorks Animation in late 2014. The movie will star Jim Parsons and Rhianna. Thanks to Cynopsis Kids for the news.

-A movie version of The Alchymest, which is the first title in The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel series is set to start filming in February 2013 with author Michael Scott writing the screenplay. Mr. GreenBeanSexyMan is pretty excited about this news! Thanks to Cynopsis Kids for the news.

-Zucker Productions has optioned recently released YA novel Devine Intervention by Martha Brockenbrough, the story of a guardian angel and the girl he protects. Thanks to Publisher's Weekly for the news.

-Fake Empire has optioned From What I Remember by Stacy Kramer and Valerie Thomas. The novel has a "Hangover" style to it-with teens getting stranded in Mexico and trying to figure out how to get back home in time for graduation. Thanks to Publisher's Weekly for the review.

-The movie version of Wendy Mass's novel Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life  is available on DVD at Redbox and Netflix. Thanks to Wendy Mass for the news.

-Courtney Summers announced that her recently released novel, This Is Not A Test, has been optioned for a TV Movie by Sony.

-A new Sesame Street movie is in the works!
