Hunger Games Fashion Show

In Style has a gallery of sketches from various fashion designers taking on Katniss's famous fire dress. I'm not a huge fan of to many-Christian Siriano's is pretty cool and I think it captures the original. And this one by Rachel Roy is an outfit I want to own because I'm crazy like that! I think I've been watching too much Project Runway because I was totally critiquing them like Heidi! Thanks to Leila for the link!

Star Trek Opposites

I'm a big geek and I love Star Trek -and I'm not afraid to admit it! So of course my geeky self was very excited when I saw this: A Star Trek board book ! You know what I'm going to be buying for gifts this Christmas!!

Sick Day Re-Deux

I've been battling a cold turned sinus infection and it's made me take a dip in blogging, which I hate! It also got me thinking about a post I wrote a couple of years ago about sick day comforts . I still love Anne and would happily re-watch and re-read Anne of Green Gables sick day or not. But my sick day feel good book comforts have changed a bit as I've gotten older. I've noticed that as an adult I tend to use sick days to try and make a dent in my TBR instead of going for an old favorite like I would as a child. I think part of that is because I don't have as much free time to read as adult, so I take what I can get. As a kid, I could spend all weekend reading and it was OK, but I don't always have that luxury as an adult. I've also noticed that I like reading picture books when I'm sick. I usually have a large stack of them checked out from my library and spending the afternoon reading nothing but picture books is a wonderful comfort for me. I...

Fun Children's Lit Links for your Saturday Morning

Reading through various newsletters and e-mails I came across a couple of links I had to share! What would Tim Burton's take on Green Eggs and Ham look like? Children's tale reimagined as movie posters! These posters were exactly what I needed to make me laugh this morning! Unshelved updates Matilda and has her take on ebooks . This one is getting posted in my office!:)

A Note and a Thank You

I wanted to say thank you to everyone who filled out the GreenBeanTeenQueen survey! Your kind words and feedback were so helpful and made me smile! I wanted to let you know of a couple of changes coming to GreenBeanTeenQueen thanks to your feedback. -I will start adding book pairings to the titles I review, since this seems to be helpful to readers, teachers and librarians. These aren't always read-alikes and a copy of the book reviewed, but instead books I think that would pair nicely in a book club or book discussion or things I think a reader of the reviewed title would also like. Most of these suggestions will be books I have read (and hopefully reviewed) on GreenBeanTeenQueen, but some might not have gotten reviews yet or are older reads, or are books that I have had suggested to me by my teens or other bloggers and I trust their opinions. -I asked if you'd like to see Book Talk Ideas, but then when I started adding them to my reviews, I realized I was just repeating m...

Giles at the Library??

So I'm way behind and missed out on Buffy when I was younger, so I'm catching up now and loving it. Today at the library, I totally saw a guy who looked like Giles and I wanted to run up to him and start talking and telling him he's like the coolest librarian, but had to stop myself. So I admired Giles-look alike from afar and was reminded that I need to watch Buffy when I get off work tonight!:)
