Hello and welcome to District Four. I'm sorry that Finnick isn't here to be your host. I know as a member of District Four I should be cheering for my own tribute, but after watching the last two Hunger Games play out I have fallen in love with Peeta Mellark! 
Why do I love Peeta? He's smart, he's funny, and he's charming. He stands up for what he believes, he's loyal and he's not afraid to do what's right. He's sensitive and caring but can also be strong and kick butt. He fights for Katniss and with Katniss. Peeta is a great diplomat and he knows how to bring people together. He can also be sneaky to get what he wants. Plus, did I mention he can bake? And he's hot!! But it's not just me! We have an underground club of sorts here in District Four-Seafaring Librarians for Peeta! Here's what some of our members had to say about their love for Peeta:
-Team Peeta!! I love their relationship because they balance each other perfectly. Where she is rough and tough, he is soft and gentle. Where she uses her head, he uses his heart. Peeta puts others' first but he's also a strategist and knows when to fight. Their personalities compliment each other very well, and you can tell with Suzanne's wonderful writing.-A
Team Peeta Rocks! Peeta is a bred-in-the-bone hero and a great match for Katniss. He shows grace and courage under fire, yet he is unafraid to reveal his tender side. Sometimes it seems as if he knows Katniss better than she does herself. His heart is honest and true.

ReplyDeleteCinna is an loyal and kind person and not crazy like other people in the Capitol. I don't think that he drinks stuff that makes him puke so he can "enjoy the feast".

It HAS to be GALE.
I can admire Peeta but Gale, if she were to choose him as a boyfriend, is strong, reliable, and a person that can support them. Katniss doesn't have to support him, like she sometimes has to.
But my favorite character has to be RUE. She is an amazing person. She is just a good person. Strong, loyal, and shows us how a good person should be. I love you Rue!!!!!
Peeta has my heart!! The boy has dedication. He deserves to FINALLY have something go his way!

ReplyDeleteAs much as I love Peeta (who is definitely very nice) I am Team Gale. My second choice would be Cinna, though. He's awesome, and he designs clothes! And he's the REAL mockingjay. Katniss just wears the clothes. Cinna gives the voice!

ReplyDeleteI'm for Katniss... so I guess you could say "Team" Katniss... but to me its just sad to compare the Team thing that so many have done with the Twilight Saga to The Hunger Games. I just want Katniss to be HAPPY, but the way things left off, it doesn't look like Katniss is going to get what she wants (which ever guy it maybe).

ReplyDeleteYou know. I just read these books last month and had seen these "team" this and that all over the place. Even though I just finished, I still don't know whether this pertains to love interest, winner, etc.? I'm assuming who you think Katniss should see as the "good guy" hero of the story. In all honesty, neither at this point! I want to know more about Gale, as he's the mysterious one I'm leaning towards, but I have to know more to really say! Yes, I'm undecided.

Peeta is amazing, from his self-sacrifice that changed Katniss's life before the games and his devotion to her in the games.

Team Gale, although Peeta is sweet and caring, Gale is righter for Katness. He is as strong as she is, and he is a better match for her.

ReplyDeleteI'm definitely Team Gale! He's always there for Katniss, no matter what and he honors his promise to take care of her mom & sis, despite already having such a large family to provide for. And it's Gale that has always had Katniss' heart, and she lights up around him, and they make each other stronger. They hunt side by side, trust each other implicitly, and fit together perfectly. I think it's great that Peeta loves her but ultimately they don't have any real chemistry. I think Katniss and Peeta love and care about each other but just dont have the passion that she and Gale have. Team Gale!! :D

So screw Gale & Peeta and vote Team Finnick! He's talented, athletic, charming,unbelievably sexy, and would fit right in with the cast of the Little Mermaid, PLUS he's got a trident. Beat that.

ReplyDeleteI like most of the charactors but my favorite is Haymitch...He's kinda the comedy releif for the book and he's really kinda logical Katniss had the best chance of getting out of the first games so Haymich sent her stuff and not Peeta...I don't know whats so great about Peeta but he's alright...

It's so sad in the first book when he finds out she's lying about loving him, and in the second she doesnt know, but he's loved her since he first layed eyes on her. And In the first book, it said all the girls talked about gale, so he could easily get another girl, and be good friends with katniss even though she would be with peeta. But finnick sounds pretty cool too.maybe if Katniss had an older sister instead of a younger one. =P haha

I can relate to Katniss's confusion about her feelings for Gale and Peeta. Of course she cares for Gale because they've been friends for so long and they help each other survive poverty in the Seam.... but teaming up to literally fight for your life and the life of your partner, especially a partner who has expressed a long standing love for you.... well how could you not share that experience without caring about, even growing to love, the person that you shared it with?

ReplyDeleteI'm not really on a team when it comes to this story. I'm more focused on wanting them all to survive that I haven't really been able to get into the "Love Triangle" aspect of the story.

ReplyDeleteI'm rooting for Katniss when it comes to supporting the tributes. Peeta comes in as a close second, mostly because of the dynamic between the two of them and the fact that i'm definitely a Peeta/Katniss fan when it comes to the romantic undertones.

ReplyDeleteI've only just started the second book, but so far I'm in the Peeta camp. Although, I suppose that's not really fair, as Katniss is with Peeta for most of The Hunger Games and so I really haven't gotten a chance to know Gale. But so what? Gale has had so many chances to let Katniss know how he feels and he's squandered every one of them. Would it really have been so hard to pull her close over the gutted carcass of a recent kill? He might be a fearless hunter, but he's a wimp when it comes to romance. Whereas Peeta knows how to get what it wants, even if it means waiting years for the perfect opportunity, like a battle to the death. Go, Peeta.

ReplyDeleteI'm Team Peeta for sure! Although I appreciate the sacrifices/bonds that Gale and Katniss share with their families and each other, Peeta is not as soft as Katniss seem to think he is. Sure, his family did not starve because they are bakers, but that doesn't mean that he can't be smart and resourceful. He's also way nicer and more considerate than all the other characters.

ReplyDeletePeeta and Gale both love Katniss. Gale tried his subtle hints about wanting to run away with her, and he'd want kids...just not while in the Seam. He tries to tell her before she leaves as well, but sadly he doesn't.
Peeta has such a strong heart. He is loyal and kind, and has been willing to take a beating for Katniss since he was just a little kid.
Honestly, they are both great guys. I guess I've just always like the stubborn, hot-headed types like Gale.

ReplyDeleteWhy must there be teams? I think Peeta shall ultimately rule, but shouldn't we focus more on team spirit rather than ganging up on our fellow District 12 refugees? I'm with the District Spirit, a life and knowledge and mindset the Capital can never take away.

Really, Gale isn't awful or anything, but Peeta is so much better.
In The Hunger Games, let's compair some traits.
Gale tells Katniss that killing people is what she should do, and that really it can't be very different than killing animals.
Peeta is trying to retain his humanity and not kill kids, for the obvious reason (it's wrong).
What does Katniss have to say. "I remember Gales words 'How diffrent can it be, really?'. Extreemely similar in exeution. Incredibly difftent in the aftermath." She always feels bad about killing the kids in the Arena (as she should).
In Catching Fire, while Gale is deciding he won't run away with Katniss if she's bringing Peeta, Peeta is offering his life in exchange for her's, complete with a marriage to Gale.
Peeta is, well, In Katniss' words "At the moment, I don't see how I could do any better."
Not that Gale doesn't have some redeeming qualities, like his rebel toward the Capitol attitude, or his love for his family, but I'm afraid that the boy with the bread outshines him.

ReplyDeleteat first I was Team Gale, but he was to hard-headed for my liking, and then I was Team Peeta, but he's to clingy...so I decided to be Team Katniss because that girl is just doing fine on her own! ;)
You know what? I'm going to say team Gale just to make a point: he hasn't been developed well enough in either of the first two books for us to know much of anything about him. We just know that it had always been him and Katniss. So, I'm voting for that first true love.
