Blog Tour: Dance of Shadows by Yelena Black

Rating: 3.5/5 Stars Genre: Horror/Paranormal Release Date: 2/12/2013 Add To Goodreads About the Book: Three years ago Vanessa's sister disappeared from the New York Ballet Academy. Her sister was one of the most talented dancers there and had been cast in a lead role as a freshman. The rumor was she cracked under pressure, but Vanessa doesn't believe it. Vanessa enrolls in the school in hopes of finding out what happened to her sister. As she begins to follow in her sisters footsteps, she realizes that something strange and that dance is dangerous. GreenBeanTeenQueen Says: Dance of Shadows is a book about ballet with a horror novel twist. Dancing becomes dangerous and there's even more pressure to being the best. In some ways, this novel reminded me of a teen version of Black Swan  with paranormal elements and I think readers who are looking for just a touch of the macabre will enjoy this book. The details about ballet are excellent. It's obvious the autho...

Orleans by Sherri L. Smith

Rating: 3/5 Stars Genre: Dystopian/Survival Release Date: 3/7/2013 Add to Goodreads About the Book: After a string of hurricanes destroys the Gulf Coast and a sickness known as Delta Fever breaks out, a wall is built and the Gulf is quarantined. Separated by blood types tribes form in Orleans and Fen is living with the O-Positives when a fight starts to break out. Fen is left with the baby of her tribe leader and she begins to run in hopes of getting the baby over the wall before her blood becomes tainted with the fever. Fen meets Daniel, who is trying to find a cure for the fever, and together they must help each other survive. GreenBeanTeenQueen Says:   Orleans is a dystopian that has a unique premise. It's set in a future where part of the US has been cut off and people have been broken up into blood type. That premise alone makes the book stand out in the crowded field of dystopian lit. Even though it has dystopian elements, I would call Orleans  more of a su...

Guest Post: Gail Gauthier

Please welcome author Gail Gauthier to GreenBeanTeenQueen! Gail has written several books for tweens and teens and recently released her book Saving the Planet & Stuff as an ebook.  Add to Goodreads I began my reading life in one-room schoolhouses that could barely be said to have their own libraries. These days, I can sometimes be found reading on a Kindle, which means I can order library eBooks without actually having to go into a library. Seems like a big jump, doesn’t it? I want to make clear that I didn’t spend my early years in one-room schoolhouses because I am so very, very old. No, I spent most of my growing up years in Sudbury , Vermont , a town too small, at that time, to afford what even then would have been considered a “traditional” elementary school. Younger students attended Hill School, which had a cupboard filled with dark old volumes of early twentieth century children’s books. Burr Pond, for the older kids, had a bookcase filled with o...

Venus and Adonis are as cruel as they are stupid--although the stupidity's actually a blessing, because if they were any more clever, they'...

Pir...

Going Vintage Trailer Reveal

I'm thrilled to host the reveal for Lindsey Leavitt's upcoming novel, Going Vintage , out March 26th from Bloomsbury. About the Book: After Mallory discovers that her boyfriend has cheated on her with an online girlfriend, Mallory decides she's had enough of technology. She finds a list her grandmother made in the 1960s of five goals to accomplish in high school and Mallory decides she's going to try her hand at the list-and hopes it will help her get back to a simpler time and get over her ex. With a list made up of things like sew a homecoming dress (Mallory can't sew!) and run for pep club secretary (what exactly is pep club?) Mallory finds that being a teenager can be complicated, no matter what decade you're in. Sounds awesome, right? It's a wonderful that I highly recommend ( you can read my full Going Vintage review here ) And check out the trailer-you'll want to get a copy of this book when it's released!
