New Year's Resolutions

Kristen at Bookworming in the 21st Century is encouraging bloggers to post their New Year's Resolutions. Here are mine (mostly reading related):

1. Read 200 books in the year. This year I made it to 150 (not counting any picture books) so I'm pretty sure I can make it to 200 next year.
2. Read review books faster.-I had a hard time with this one this last semester due to my class schedule, but no more lit class! (Kristen had this one too and I thought it was a great goal)
3. Post my reviews on Amazon, GoodReads, etc. more often-I always forget to due this unless it's Bloggiesta time and then I spend my entire weekend copying and pasting reviews everywhere!
4. Read the books that win the ALA Media Awards if I haven't read them already (I still haven't read this year's winners-gasp!)
5. Actually use the Wii Fit! (Yep, we have one, but it's getting dusty at the moment)
6. Try out a new hobby-I just think it would be cool to try something new-any suggestions?

And for work, since my work year starts over in January, my goal is to make YA Reader's Advisory my big push. I'm hoping to encourage more staff in my library to read YA and to come up with more booklists for them to use when I'm not around.

So, that's mine-what are you hoping for in 2010?

  2. Right now I'm only looking at getting over my cold (yeah, I'm a big 'long term' girl when I'm miserable). But those are some seriously impressive goals. 200 books? my hats off to you. I can't wait to see the reviews on them.

And I think you should try something completely random, like fencing or ghost hunting. Or rock painting. :)

  3. Great resolutions. I got a Wii Fit for Christmas and my New Year's resolution is to actually use it. I'm a slacker when it comes to working out.... I'd rather be reading. LoL

Have a happy and safe new year.

  5. I am getting close to the 200 mark, I don't know if I will be able to hit it next year, but Good Luck to you! In 2010 I am trying to find some new hobbies since I finished my MLIS, possibly with my other passion photography. Have a great year!

  6. My Wii Fit is getting dusty too! :) I am so bad at remembering to post reviews on Amazon and GoodReads. I've been trying to catch up on some of that today, and have barely made a dent.

  7. We have a lot of the same goals. I need to review my books faster and I want to read 200 books in 2010. I set my goal at 150 because I was afraid 200 was too lofty for me.

Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell

Rating: 5/5 Stars Genre: Realistic Fiction Release Date: 2/26/2013 Add to Goodreads About the Book: Eleanor and Park are both misfits. When new girl Eleanor sits next to Park on the bus, they don't want anything to do with each other. But over the course of the school year, things change. It starts with comic books and becomes a friendship and a romance that the two will never forget. You never forget your first love. GreenBeanTeenQueen Says: Have you ever had a book sit on your shelf that you've heard so much hype about? And you think that books sounds like it would be right up your alley, but you're in a reading slump and you're afraid to give it a try unless it fails? I knew Eleanor and Park sounded like my perfect book, but I was in such an after committee slump that I even though I knew this book would help, I just didn't want to be disappointed. I should have known better because Eleanor and Park was perfect and everything that I had hoped it wou

Post Downton Abbey Reading List

Downton Abbey is over (with a shocking and frustrating ending!) and now I'm suffering Downton Abbey withdrawal. I've got a reading list full of books that I hope will satisfy my post-Downton Abbey cravings and I thought I'd share what's in my pile and get suggestions for other after Downton reads. Here's what I hope to be reading this year (a mix of YA and adult titles):                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  A couple Julian Fellowes reads:                And a few re-reads:                    Edited to add: What's on your Post-Downton Abbey reading list?
