The Carrie Diaries-Will You Be Reading It?

The Carrie Diaries by Candace Bushnell will be released April 27, 2010. It tells the story of teenage Carrie Bradshaw before Sex and the City.

I watched the show off and on in re-runs (didn't get HBO in college) and I have seen the Sex and the City movie. I have to admit I'm intrigued, but at the same time I'm nervous. This could either be great or fall flat. I do think it's a great way to bring in adult readers to YA who maybe haven't read YA recently. But is it going to be adult fans of the show that read this one or are teens going to pick it up? Today's teens were most likely not watching Sex and the City, but it is a big part of our culture, I'm sure most would know who Carrie Bradshaw is.

So what do you think? Will you be reading it? And do you think teens will be picking it up?

  1. ohmygod, HOW did I have NO idea before right now that this book was going to exist. MUST READ! I will definitely be reading it, and I can totally see teens picking it up. Awesomeness!

  2. I might pick this up. I am a SATC fan; I've seen all the epi's and watched the movie. I think it would be interesting to read about Carrie's life as a teenager. SATC addicts will pick this up.

  3. I think if the movie hadn't come out this past year it might go a bit unnoticed, but I think that SATC is making a comeback.
I'm definetly going to request it from the library

  4. Personally, I'll be skipping this one. Was never really a fan of the Sex and the City franchise - don't like the voice of Carrie. If the voice carries over (which, for continuity and fans of the show, I really hope it does), then I know I won't like this book either.

  5. I won't be reading. Doesn't interest me at all. I was never a fan of Sex and the City. But I'll definitely be curious to see how people respond to the book.

  6. Never seen SATC, but I love the cover. It totally reminds me of the SECRETS OF MY HOLLYWOOD LIFE books by Jen Calonita!

  7. I probably won't be reading it, but that is because I read the SATC book and I just didn't care for it.

  8. I love SATC! I'll definitely read this, but probably won't buy it. Will put in request @ library when it's released.

I didn't know about this until now so thanks for posting!

  9. I had the same question. Is the audience going to be more twenty/thirty somethings exploring YA for the first time (a very good thing), or teens who have seen SATC on TBS? Totally interested to see how it sells.
I'll probably skip it, just because I never was into SATC. I may be an embarrassment to my gender, but I never got how Carrie could spend so much money on shoes :)

  10. I personally cannot wait for this book.
Being a 14 year old boy, when I tell people that Sex and The City is one of my favorite shows, they can get a little...overwhelmed.
But I am SOOOO excited! :D

Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell

Rating: 5/5 Stars Genre: Realistic Fiction Release Date: 2/26/2013 Add to Goodreads About the Book: Eleanor and Park are both misfits. When new girl Eleanor sits next to Park on the bus, they don't want anything to do with each other. But over the course of the school year, things change. It starts with comic books and becomes a friendship and a romance that the two will never forget. You never forget your first love. GreenBeanTeenQueen Says: Have you ever had a book sit on your shelf that you've heard so much hype about? And you think that books sounds like it would be right up your alley, but you're in a reading slump and you're afraid to give it a try unless it fails? I knew Eleanor and Park sounded like my perfect book, but I was in such an after committee slump that I even though I knew this book would help, I just didn't want to be disappointed. I should have known better because Eleanor and Park was perfect and everything that I had hoped it wou

Post Downton Abbey Reading List

Downton Abbey is over (with a shocking and frustrating ending!) and now I'm suffering Downton Abbey withdrawal. I've got a reading list full of books that I hope will satisfy my post-Downton Abbey cravings and I thought I'd share what's in my pile and get suggestions for other after Downton reads. Here's what I hope to be reading this year (a mix of YA and adult titles):                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  A couple Julian Fellowes reads:                And a few re-reads:                    Edited to add: What's on your Post-Downton Abbey reading list?
