What YA Book Are You Most Anticipating in 2009 & Contest

As many of you know, I work as a teen librarian. One thing I'm working on now is coming up with a list of the most anticipated YA books for 2009 so that my library can hopefully pre-order them. I love looking for new books and have a big long list to pass on, but I'm interested in knowing what you're looking forward to reading this year. Anything I should add to my 2009 wish list?

I'll even make this a contest too, since I love finding out new books, so one random commenter will win a copy of EVERMORE by Alsyon Noel, since that was one of my top 2009 picks this year. (And, how cool is this, but my TeensReadToo.com review is listed on the back on the book!!) Winner will be posted on Valentine's Day. (And yes, these comments count toward the I LOVE BOOKS Contest too!)

  1. I'm a huge Sarah Dessen fan, so I can't wait for Along For The Ride to come out. I think I'm the only YA blogger around that doesn't have an ARC of it. =[

  2. Katie-I feel the same way! I keep seeing ARCs of that one around. Sarah Dessen is awesome, so I'm looking forward to reading that one too!!

  7. YA books are a newer genre for me, so I don't know a whole lot about the books that are coming out in 2009.

I loved Graceling by Kristin Cashore, and I see that she has a book coming out in the fall called "Fire." I don't know what it's about yet, but I'm definitely interested.

  8. Oh goodness. Where to start, where to start... this is what Waiting for Wednesdays are for! :)

    Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins
Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen
Perfect Fifths by Megan McCafferty (not YA sort of but I CANNOT WAIT)
the third Ruby Oliver book by E. Lockhart (I have temporary memory loss; will rediscover the title by Wednesday)

Clearly I fail at naming just one.

  9. Okay, I'm looking forward to many of the others already mentioned, but I'll also mention Starclimber by Kenneth Oppel (which comes out in just about two weeks! Hooray!!) and As You Wish by new author Jackson Pearce. I've been following her blog for awhile now and she's totally adorable. As You Wish isn't coming out until the fall, but this blurb on the 2009 Debutantes page sold me: "High school student Viola Cohen inadvertently summons--then falls for--a young jinn after her boyfriend tells her a life-changing secret."

  18. I'm going to post my list on my blog pretty soon, but a few I'm really looking forward to are (yes, this is a few... my actual list is over 100 books!):

Hunger: A Gone Novel - Michael Grant
Eyes Like Stars - Lisa Mantchev
    Rampant - Diana Peterfreund
    Radiant Darkness - Emily Whitman
    Strange Angels - (forgot author)
    Sea Change - Aimee Friedman
Silver Phoenix : Beyond the Kingdom of Xia - Cindy Pon
    Catching Fire - Suzanne Collins

The Demon's Lexicon - Sarah Rees Brennan
    Wings - Aprilynne Pike

  19. Oh my, I'm not sure if I can remember all that I'm looking forward to this year.

Hunted - P.C. Cast and Kristen Cast. Though I never plan to write about vampires, I can't help but be captivated at all the ways authors have been using them. Zoey's voice is so rich and knowable. It feels more like she's your best friend and the two of you are just talking, rather than she's telling an epic story.

The second book in the GONE series by Michael Grant. I can't even begin to describe the awsomeness of the first book. The characters are all solid and the stress of their situation difuses out of the pages. I found myself on the brink of tears near the end. But that cliffhanger just KILLED me.

There have been whispers of the next book in Stephenie Meyer's Host series coming out in the fall. I have know idea if this is true or not, I sure hope so though.

The Last Olympian- Rick Riodan, the first four books were delish and I'm a little sad that this book will bring Percy's story to an end.

Leviathan- Scott Westerfeld. I've been waiting for a steampunk series for such a long time now, maybe we'll see a flood of SP and Sci-fi books over the next five years.

...that's all I can think of at the moment.

Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell

Rating: 5/5 Stars Genre: Realistic Fiction Release Date: 2/26/2013 Add to Goodreads About the Book: Eleanor and Park are both misfits. When new girl Eleanor sits next to Park on the bus, they don't want anything to do with each other. But over the course of the school year, things change. It starts with comic books and becomes a friendship and a romance that the two will never forget. You never forget your first love. GreenBeanTeenQueen Says: Have you ever had a book sit on your shelf that you've heard so much hype about? And you think that books sounds like it would be right up your alley, but you're in a reading slump and you're afraid to give it a try unless it fails? I knew Eleanor and Park sounded like my perfect book, but I was in such an after committee slump that I even though I knew this book would help, I just didn't want to be disappointed. I should have known better because Eleanor and Park was perfect and everything that I had hoped it wou

Post Downton Abbey Reading List

Downton Abbey is over (with a shocking and frustrating ending!) and now I'm suffering Downton Abbey withdrawal. I've got a reading list full of books that I hope will satisfy my post-Downton Abbey cravings and I thought I'd share what's in my pile and get suggestions for other after Downton reads. Here's what I hope to be reading this year (a mix of YA and adult titles):                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  A couple Julian Fellowes reads:                And a few re-reads:                    Edited to add: What's on your Post-Downton Abbey reading list?
