Marian the Librarian's Bookshelf

Marian the Librarian from Beautiful Creatures and Beautiful Darkness is my favorite librarian character in YA. I have to give a huge shout-out to Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl for creating such a kick butt and awesome librarian!

So because I love Marian, I was thinking about what books would be on Marian’s bookshelf or TBR pile. And here’s what I pick for the Caster librarian:

-The Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling-I think Ms. Marian would enjoy reading about Harry and his magical adventures and I would hope she’s as big of a Harry Potter fan as I am!

-Girl’s Guide to Witchcraft by Mindy Klasky-I’m sure Marian would get a kick out of this adult chick lit title-it’s about a librarian (like her) who finds out she’s a witch.

-What the Librarian Did by Karina Bliss-Marian delivers romance novels to the town of Gatlin, but I wonder if she might have a soft spot for them as well? Plus, I think she'd get a kick out of this one!

-Prophecy of the Sisters by Michelle Zink-With all Marian knows of the Caster world, I wonder if she would believe Gothic supernatural tale was fiction?

Pure Magic: A Complete Course in Spellcasting by Judika Illes-No, this one doesn’t have Caster spells, but a good librarian has a multitude of sources

-Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins-Really, what kind of librarian would Marian be if she wasn't keeping up with the latest trends? She's got to have this one in her pile as well!

-Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell-Marian does live in the south, and what southern bookshelf could be complete without this sweeping epic romance? What else do you think would be on Marian's bookshelf?

What else do you think would be on Marian's bookshelf?

  1. I think she'd like Libba Bray's series. Simillarly epic. What are some other series (besides Prophecy of the Sisters) that seem as epic to you? I love the Castef books and Bray's books but just couldn't get into Zink's books. Don't know why.

  7. In keeping with books that a Southerner would have on her shelf -- "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee. And a collection of Flannery O'Connor's short stories.

13 District Mockingjay Tour: District 4

Hello and welcome to District Four. I'm sorry that Finnick isn't here to be your host. I know as a member of District Four I should be cheering for my own tribute, but after watching the last two Hunger Games play out I have fallen in love with Peeta Mellark! Why do I love Peeta? He's smart, he's funny, and he's charming. He stands up for what he believes, he's loyal and he's not afraid to do what's right. He's sensitive and caring but can also be strong and kick butt. He fights for Katniss and with Katniss. Peeta is a great diplomat and he knows how to bring people together. He can also be sneaky to get what he wants. Plus, did I mention he can bake? And he's hot!! But it's not just me! We have an underground club of sorts here in District Four-Seafaring Librarians for Peeta! Here's what some of our members had to say about their love for Peeta: - Team Peeta!! I love their relationship because they balance each other perfectly. Where ...
